Why This Site Exists
The official website of the Keokuk Volunteer Emergency Corps (KVEC) at kvec.us has been shut down, leaving the community without an official channel for information. However, an alternative domain, emergencycorps.org, is still operational, though neither site is run by KVEC management. This website, hosted on the original domain, has been established to provide a platform for the community to stay informed and voice their concerns.
The Origins of This Page
This page came to life in late 2023 after Dan Tillman, the current leader of KVEC, made the controversial decision to delete the organization's Facebook page. The deletion came at a time when the community was actively seeking answers and transparency from the leadership. Frustrated by the lack of communication, community members needed a place to gather and discuss the ongoing issues.
The Catalyst for Change
The turning point came when a concerned Keokuk citizen, who runs the Facebook group Keokuk - Voices Unheard, wrote a post that quickly gained traction within the community. The post highlighted the issues surrounding KVEC’s management and was fueled by the release of a news article that brought the organization’s internal corruption to light. I used to be a member. When I was on the Emergency Corps, Dan and Angie had control of all the money that came in. I was the head of maintenance after the last one quit because maintaining the equipment was forbidden once Dan was in charge. In the labor day parade, the airboat trailer still had the same flat tire that it had when I left a few years ago so the money most definitely isn't going towards the equipment.

As stated, the spam detection system this site is running automatically hides comments that it has detected spam in. It’s been tweaked to look for harassment too. The difference between that and the KVEC Facebook page is that legitimate concerns from citizens were being deleted by KVEC’s management. That’s not what is being done here.

You claimed they weren't spam but I wrote the code for this site, including the SDS (Spam Detection System) and it is highly unlikely that it would mistakenly remove a comment. I turned it off when you said your comments weren't spam but here you are spamming. It's ironic that someone who puts their name as "Tired of the lies", lies pretty consistently. You said you were there. Can you prove it? What connection do you have with Keokuk? Are you only commenting just to harrass? Funny you ask if I can prove it. Can you actually prove anything you are saying against these people? If it is a city program, it would go through the city channels. That would be extremely hard to steal from without having a lot of people complicent, but you aren't obviously smart enough to know that. They have another tire at the shop. Flat tires happen. You say you are in charge of maintenance. What did you actually do? Boats like theirs don't require a lot. Mostly the annual oil change

There’s an anti-spam system implemented on this site that automatically removes comments that appear to be spam. If yours was deleted, that might be why. This website doesn’t keep a record of comments that are removed. But there is a news article linked above. That spurred the creation of this site. Dan and Angie are not the easiest people to get along with. Dan is incredibly stubborn—he’s never wrong, even when he obviously is. Angie isn’t any different. They do things their own way, and the moment you disagree with them, you’re instantly labeled as their enemy. They just can’t handle the truth. I’ve also been wondering how they managed to get the money to open their tax business on Main Street after Dan was fired from Midwest Performance. It all seems a bit suspicious to me.

I’ve volunteered with KVEC for years, and I’ve never seen it this bad. Morale is at an all-time low, and it’s all because of poor leadership. Something has to change, or we’re going to lose what little trust the community has left.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the reason they deleted the KVEC Facebook page. I kept asking them for answers, trying to get some transparency, but they would just leave me on read every time. It’s like they were trying to ignore the problem and hope it would go away. Well, guess what? Ignoring the community isn’t going to solve anything! For years, I’ve donated my hard-earned money to this organization because I believed in the mission and trusted that my contributions were going to support a team that genuinely cared about our community.
